The new system for swiss-type lathes
ISCAR is introducing a compact, high precision tool system for Swiss-type lathes controlled by CNC and for Swiss-type automatics (known also as screw-type machines). The unique SWISSCUT tools are characterized by their ergonomic insert clamping and simple handling. The new system is an important element for the high precision Swiss-type machine industry.

The SWISSCUT Toolholders:
The compact SWISSCUT toolholder provides easy and accurate indexing of the unique insert. The very stable, tangentially clamped insert can be indexed without removing the toolholder from the machine turret. In addition, clamping and releasing the insert can be accomplished from either side of the toolholder. Bottom and rear prisms provide high stability and precision when turning in alternating directions or where relatively high loads are applied.

The back clamping option of the SWISSCUT enables the user to clamp the insert in the holder from the opposite side of the insert.
This B type (back) clamping style is enabled by using an insert with a threaded bushing. The insert is clamped by a screw which pulls the insert into the pocket by the threaded bushing. An O-ring mounted on the screw prevents the screw from falling out of the pocket while the insert is being replaced.

The toolholder for back clamping is designated SCHL (or R)... 6B and the insert with the sleeve is SCIL 6B.... (or R).

The front clamping option of the SWISSCUT is a semi-standard version. This toolholder designation is SCHL (or R) - 6F and the insert without the bushing, SCIL (or R) - 6F-...

The new holders are available in a variety of square shanks, in sizes 10, 12, 16, 9.52 and 12.7 mm (.375”, .393”, .472”, .50” and .63“).
